Facility Billing Errors
My mother has been diagnosed with Alzhiemer's and has recently been placed in a facility. My problem is that they are billing us on top of receiving her insurance from TRS and her supplemental Medicare. To me this seems a little too much, and the fact that the bills are so confusing it seems that she is paying a lot. I really do not know who else to notify and if you think you could be of any service to us we would be very appreciative. We are in the dark as to what they are providing and how it is being paid for. The problem for me is that they requested her bank statement and the bill we receive is exactly her monthly income, however she needs money to pay insurance and incidentals.

Keeping track of what is billable and what is not, as well as what is covered by insurance and what is covered by Medicare can be confusing and daunting. Many doctor's offices use professional medical insurance companies that are very familiar with these facts and figures. There are also professional Financial Advisors who specialize in medical insurance, and they are available to help sort all of this information for a fee.
Always ask for clarification from the facility where your mother lives for the expenses that are being charged. Also ask the insurance companies involved about what IS covered and what IS NOT covered. This is time consuming and the answers given are not always clear. You have a right to question the billing and the reimbursements. But sometimes hiring a professional in the field of medical reimbursements is necessary to clear up misunderstandings and clerical errors.
