When to Discuss a Nursing Home
What is the best way to find out when the time comes to discuss a nursing home with your family member?
Keith in Alabama, 47
The best time to discuss a nursing facility is before the need actually arises (if possible). Get the brochures for the properties that interest you, and go on a tour of each facility. Learn exactly what services they have to offer and what services they don’t provide. Find out the basic cost and what are the costs of any add-ons. Have your elder family member involved with as much of this as possible. After all, this is a very profound life change, and that’s not easy at any age.
