Doctor Marion Wins Award in 2009 National

Mature Media Awards Program

National Elder Care Expert and Author Marion Somers, PhD

Wins Merit Award for “Ask Doctor Marion” Self Syndication

New York City – June 1, 2009 – Leading elder care expert Doctor Marion® (www.DoctorMarion.com), author of “Elder Care Made Easier,” was selected as a winner among hundreds of entries in the 18th annual National Mature Media Awards Program.  Her “Ask Doctor Marion” Article Syndication initiative received a Merit Award within the Public Relations category.  The awards program is the largest program of its kind.  Presented by the Mature Market Resource Center, the awards were created to annually recognize the best materials produced for those who are 50 and older, the nation’s fastest-growing population group.

As an elder care expert, author, and experienced geriatric care manager, Doctor Marion’s mission is simple – to help as many people as possible who care for an aging parent or loved one.  After experiencing favorable response from the mainstream broadcast and print media, Doctor Marion recognized the critical need to provide content to the hundreds of senior-focused newspaper inserts and similar publications in local cities all across the country.  She launched a focused effort to self-syndicate her popular “Ask Doctor Marion” column through a monthly distribution to senior media outlets in every state to get her advice directly into the hands of those who need it most.

The response was overwhelmingly positive as editors everywhere thanked Doctor Marion for providing the simple answers to often complex caregiving challenges that were (until now) eluding their readers.  In just one year, more than three dozen print and media outlets across the country have either expressed interest or are currently running the column, accounting for nearly seven million readers nationwide.

“It’s a great honor to be recognized by my peers in the field,” said Doctor Marion.  “As a caregiver, I’ve met thousands of families searching for answers and resources.  Now I’m able to reach them and many others with this column to help with the direction and support they so desperately seek.”

Nearly 900 entries were judged by a distinguished panel of mature market experts from across the United States for overall excellence of design, content, creativity and relevance to the senior market.  The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging and American Custom Publishing Corporation® sponsored the 2009 awards program.  If you are interested in receiving her free award-winning column series for your publication, please contact Lauren Zumpano at 609-279-0050 x103 or lauren@resoundmarketing.com.
