FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ELDER CARE EXPERT AND AUTHOR DOCTOR MARION SHARES REKNOWNED EXPERTISE AT BROOKLYN EVENT
New York City– December 14, 2006 – Leading elder care expert and author Doctor Marion® (www.doctormarion.com) was recently featured as a guest at Park Slope United Methodist Church in Brooklyn, NY, where she led an informative seminar entitled “You and Your Aging Parent - Where Do You Go From Here?” More than 25 local residents facing this issue joined Doctor Marion for a candid discussion about how to better communicate with and care for their aging loved ones while balancing their own personal needs. Before the seminar, Doctor Marion met with the church’s caregivers’ support group to offer her personalized tips and suggestions in a one-on-one atmosphere.
“We were so grateful to have this opportunity to hear Doctor Marion’s stories and advice,” said Zoe Moffit. “I know that everyone at the event walked away with practical information that they will be able to use to better handle these often challenging and emotional situations. The tips and suggestions were really helpful, but beyond that, she inspired new confidence and a sense of "can do" in people caring for aging parents in some of these quite overwhelming situations. A number of people have spoken to me the weeks after to say how helpful the book's ideas, resources and guidance have been.”
Doctor Marion (aka Marion Somers, PhD) has been reaching audiences across the country with her message about making elder care easier, following the launch of her web site, www.doctormarion.com, and the release of her book, “Elder Care Made Easier: Doctor Marion’s Ten Steps to Help You Care for an Aging Loved One” earlier this year. With more than three decades of experience as a counselor, professor, and lecturer, Doctor Marion offers proven, practical advice to the millions of Baby Boomers and caregivers faced with caring for their aging parents as they balance their own health, aging, retirement, family, and career concerns. Other recent appearances in the greater New York area included spots on NBC 4’s “Sunday Today in New York” and CN8’s “Your Morning.”
In 2007, Doctor Marion will embark on a 45-city tour, bringing her advice, anecdotes, and support to audiences at bookstores, religious institutions, hospitals, universities, corporate organizations, and other locations across the United States.
