Caregiving for a loved one can be a stressful job. Free time is limited and demands are great. I developed Caregiver Apps to provide caregivers a quick list of iPhone and iPad apps offering potential value.

From the list of recommended apps, far and away the iPhone/iPad app garnering the most interest is Elder 411, an app described as “senior caregiving made easier.” This app encapsulates 500 pieces of caregiving advice in a well-organized, succinct, multimedia fashion. The content is based on the expertise of Dr. Marion Somers, a geriatric care manager with 35 plus years in the field.

Geriatric care managers are specialists in guiding families through the physical, emotional and psychological conditions that need to be addressed. The challenge is having the right advice when you need it. By the time we identify who the “right” professional is who can help, we might think, if I only had this help sooner.

Elder 411 isn’t a substitute for seeing a proper medical professional but provides a depth of answers as accessible as your iPhone and iPad. It is a must-have for those with aging relatives.
