Dr. Marion has written a book that is making my professional work with older adults easier. I find myself referring to her book often to advise clients' caregivers about tips to make their loved one's home safer. Her book is practical, easy to follow, and a concise guide that can be carried around for easy access to information. Other books have been cumbersome. Dr. Marion understands that the life of a caregiver is difficult and she wants to make it easier. I am also impressed at how much Dr. Marion shares with us about her life and struggles and joys of caregiving. I felt like she was right beside me when I was reading her book. Highly, highly recommended.

This book contains very useful information. It makes you think more about what needs to be done and gives you more to consider that you might not have previously.

I've been stewing over what could be done to make my parents more comfortable and safer in their home as they age. This book's a big help and some of the tips are so simple that I'm annoyed with myself for not thinking of them sooner. An example is putting nightlights on full-time in the bathroom and increasing the wattage of lights throughout the house. Anything to decrease their chances of falling is important as eyesight dims.
I'll definitely recommend this to all my friends worrying about their elderly parents.

Dr. Marion's book gives great practical suggestons for the caregiver, always considering the emotional impact for the elderly person and for the caregivers. She talks realistically of the hardships and physical problems which can occur and what can be done to help and to prevent potential problems and she affirms the many possibilities for enjoyment, satisfactions and life resolutions for elders and their loved ones. Sharing her personal experiences as well as the professional (with many humorous and sometimes poignant stories), this book gives a great sense of optimism about finding ways, large and small to help, even in very tough situations . There are good detailed lists of steps to take and also longer thoughtful passages about emotional and spiritual issues in aging and cargegiving. I am an RN and work with many seniors and their caregivers, and this book gives so much in an easily read format, I highly recommend it to caregivers.

Dr. Marion's most recent publication "Elder Care Made Easier" is a thoroughly readable, well thought out, and informative guide to caring for an aging parent, spouse, or loved one. Whether you are already in midst of dealing with the daily crises of elder care, or simply preparing yourself for what might be coming around the bend, this is definitely the book to read. As a professional in the field of aging, I highly recommend Dr. Marion's book, both, for the layman as well as for the professional looking to sharpen their skills.

It's been hard dealing with my father who is 97 years old and in an assisted living home - god bless him! He's so sweet but gets confused, paranoid, etc. and I was feeling overwhelmed. This book is nice because it's short and sweet, but it's got everything in there. I really liked the 10 step outline, it's so easy to follow. I've been able to read it out of order and find what I need for my own issues without feeling like I'm missing something.
